Vice President of Medical Affairs

Full/Part Time: 24-32 hours/week
Job Details: The Vice President of Medical Affairs is the physician member of the Pen Bay Medical Center and Pen Bay Healthcare Executive Teams providing clinical input to administrative decisions and ensuring high clinical quality. This position serves as a liaison to medical staff ensuring effective communication between and integration with administration and the medical staff. Other responsibilities of this position include oversight of the Pen Bay Healthcare Quality, Risk and Safety Program and the physician and mid-level credentialing, privileging and peer review process. Also, this position is responsible for physician recruitment and retention initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications are as follows:
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maine
Minimum of five years of clinical practice experience
Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including effective problem solving skills, fairness, decisiveness, excellent negotiating skills, and the ability to manage complex situations
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with medical staff colleagues, nursing staff, hospital leaders, board and community members
Board-certified active member (or member to be) of the medical staff
