Coastal Music Therapy provides opportunities for all people to create music. Through direct service, consultation and community education, Coastal Music Therapy promotes the proven therapeutic value of music therapy as a means to attain health and wellness. Regardless of age or ability, Coastal Music Therapy tailors each experience to encourage growth and joy through music making, listening, writing and performing.

Trish Jonason is a board-certified music therapist, specializing in music therapy with children and adults with special needs. Additionally, Trish works with adults recovering from stroke and brain injury, as well as older adults living with dementia. Trish graduated with a Music Therapy degree and became board-certified in 2002. She is a professional member of the American Music Therapy Association and is fully insured.

Coastal Music Therapy offers direct services including music therapy, music lessons for non-traditional learners and music groups for children. Additionally, Trish provides workshops and trainings, as is available on a consultant basis.

Music Therapy is considered a related service under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). When music therapy is deemed necessary to assist a child benefit from his/her special education, goals are documented on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) as a related service intervention. Many states allow music therapy in Early Intervention (EI) under the category of "special instruction" which is a category under IDEA Part C.

Trish offers after-school and evening hours and is available to see clients in their home or at a studio space in Rockland.
